the show feels like, don't read !

Hi,
This is the 7th D/M show that i've seen if i include Dave's Paper
Monster Tour so i'm not a newbie. I'm a BIG FAN .
I just saw the show in Montreal last night and i have to admit that i
was deceived by the whole thing. Maybe they were tired from their
previous show in Atlantic City the previous night ??? I don't know.
After 22 shows of Touring The Angel i tought that the show would be on
the wheels but not yet :-(

I did read a lot before going to the show and did watch some videos on
the net from the show they made in Anaheim so my expectations were very
low. And that is the way i still feel :-( So that being said here's my
comments on the show in itself:

The show lasted a short 85 minutes. They didnt do all the songs
that were on the previous shows/setlits. They skipped one song ->
"World in my eyes" probably because of Dave's voice... It's giving him
and us a lot of problems ! On "Policy of truth" and "Walking in my
shoes", it was clear to me that it would be a difficult task for Dave
to carry on thru the show. Precious was awful in every sense of the
word. Nothing was working for that song. It was very difficult to
recognize the guitar riff which is the foundation of the song and the
live version seemed slower than the album version. When "I feel you"
started, i was expecting problems but Dave delivered the merchandise
with his voice but he made us sang almost the rest of the songs...
There was a bizarre feeling in the crowd during "Everyrthing counts".
Dave tried to make us sing (because he didnt have any voice left) but
most of the crowd didnt know the lyrics so it was an odd moment (we are
mostly french canadian so excuse me for my english here). I felt bad
for the band especially Dave. They could have used backing vocals like
on the SOFAD tour. Martin tried to sing for Dave but his range is not
the same and it shows. At the end of the show starting on Personal
Jesus, Enjoy The Silence, Just Can't Get Enough, Everything Counts and
Never Let Me Down Again, Dave didnt sing much of the songs throwing the
mic at us in order to sing at his place. No voice ! His performance on
stage is still very good. For all the girls reading he's still moving
like always !!! They did the usual show version of "Personnal Jesus",
"I Feel you", "Enjoy The Silence" and "Never let me down again" which i
think were the best moments of the night. But if it isnt your first
show of DM, these versions are not new to you. Tonight Martin wasn't as
visible as usual for a guy that thinks that he's a rock star. Less
lights on him than Dave which is surprising since he always wants more
room. Fletch was a bit more active tonight, i saw him put headphones on
and press some buttons on his synth ! God i miss Allan so much

Someone on the group mentionned that they had problems adjusting to
playing their songs with their drummer. It's now an evidence for me. I
must say that it did help the new songs especially the first 2... The
stage was ok but nothing new there. A projection on the back with
images from the show as well as visual made for the show. One major
thing was missing: Giant screen !!! We are in 2005, almost every show i
go to, there's always two big screens on the side. If you have tickets
on the right side and close to the stage, you won't be able to see the
projections on the background because they are in angles to the left.
This is a downer for almost everybody sitting in that side of the
stage. So if you are not close to the stage bring yourself some
binnoculars. By the way, cameras are accepted so you can take pictures
but close your flash or you'll be spotted... I managed to take about
250 pictures of the show !!! I have to say that the sound was great
here in Montreal. As for the merchandise, I must say that i was
impressed, they had a lot of different gears, very nice t-shirts but
expensive as always. I bought 3 t-shirts $40 bucks each. If you want
pictures from the show as well as the pic of the shirts i hace you can
send an email me at ***@gmail.com

If they do a DVD of that tour as stated in a previous post, i hope
they do it at end of when the problems will be solved. I would prefer a
DVD of the 86-98 Singles Tour or the Violator Tour. These 2 shows were
much better in many ways...

No more police or early closed beer stand as someone posted about the
Chicago show.

I just hope that this is not the end of DM as we know them...

Oh my god,
I just read your post and it really made me sad to hear that coz I
bought a ticket for Depeche Mode for Wembley Arena/London on 3.4.2006
...
Can you say it's a waste of money for you ?

P.S.
I've never seen a live show of Depeche Mode except the ones on DVD

Anywhere except on the right side of the stage...
I don't know if it is reserved tickets in front (close to stage)
I would take tickets on the left side in the middle

The tickets are seperated to "sitting" and Standing" so i guess i'm
free to choose where to stand if i get early enough to the venue
